How does the Series 6 & 63 course of The Boston Institute of Finance differ from
the other programs out there?

How does the program work?
All you need is a computer and an Internet connection. First, click the enroll link at the top of the screen to sign up and create
your account. You will receive an e-mail confirmation within a few minutes. Next, log
on and access the premium materials you have purchased. The program is accessible for three
months from the date of purchase.
Do I need to be sponsored by a brokerage firm in order to take the Series 6
examination?
Yes, in order to take the Series 6
examination, you must be sponsored by a
member firm of FINRA or
a self-regulatory organization such as an exchange or
state regulator.
Do I need to have a sponsor before I take the Series 63 examination?
No; you can sign up without a sponsor by filing
Form U-10
and paying the fee. Indicate “None” or “Not Applicable” where the form requests a sponsoring firm.
How can I take the Series 6 and 63 Examinations?
For both examinations; a candidate must obtain a ticket, normally by completing a U-4 form
and sending it to FINRA together with the applicable fee. The ticket obtained from FINRA is valid for a 90-day period and to take the exam on a PROCTOR computer terminal, a
candidate must call a Professional Development Center for an appointment.
How are the Series 6 & 63 examinations graded?
In order to pass the Series 6 examination, you must score at least 70 percent. Therefore,
candidates must answer 70 questions correctly out of a total of 100 questions. Series 63
examination consists of 65 multiple-choice questions covering the topics listed in the
study guide. Applicants are allowed 75 minutes to complete the examination. Candidates
must also attain scores of 70% in order to pass. Credit will only be given for correct
answers. Of the 65 questions on the exam, 60 will count toward the final score. The
remaining 5 questions are experimental and do not count toward the candidate’s
grade.
