The Boston University's classroom program for financial planning is one of the oldest and most respected curriculums. In 2001, it was digitally reformatted, in partnership with Boston Institute of Finance, and became the first online program for financial planning. This premier 21st century version of one of the nation's oldest programs fulfills Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) educational requirement to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and federally registered CFP® in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Boston University does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and federally registered CFP® certification marks.
